Proverbs 4:23 (NLT)

Matt. 12:34

Living From The Inside Out

Success and failure can be traced back to your thought life (Rom. 8:6).

· Our thoughts can betray, deceive, mislead, and destroy our destiny (Gen. 6:5).

· The Word of God is designed to critique your thoughts and motives (Heb. 4:12-13).

Our thoughts should have biblical accountability (2 Cor. 10:4-5).

· Correct thinking is developed when we take our thoughts captive and harness them with the mind and will of God (Phil. 4:8).

Developing The Correct Heart Posture

Here are three heart postures of a disciple.

1. The Heart Posture of Hunger (Matt. 5:6).

- You can serve God out of duty, but only passion will produce fervent, joyful, and long-term commitment.

- Hungry makes your relationship with God more enjoyable (Ps. 27:4).

- Pursuing God proves your desire to be with Him (Ps. 42:1-2).

- Be aware of the warning signs that would try to rob your passion for God.

Ø Hit-and-miss devotional time.

Ø Lack of passion during worship.

Ø Lost interest in church.

Ø Other things become more important to you than God.

2. The Heart Posture of Faith (Heb. 11:6).

- The simplest definition of faith is to believe God and believe His word.

- Trusting God must become a way of life for a disciple (Rom. 1:17).

- Our faith in God is seen in our lifestyle (James 2:14-17, 26).

Ø Faith always requires corresponding actions. I believe what God says needs to be connected to an

action.

- True faith is revealed in times of crisis (James 1:2-3).

Ø How do you respond to a negative doctor’s report? Do you continue to honor God through your giving

in economic hardship?

3. The Heart Posture of Persistence (2 Tim. 2:3).

- Quitting is never an option for disciples of Christ (1 Tim. 6:12).

- Disciples of Christ do not accept defeat (Rom. 8:37).

- Make up your mind to never quit on God or anyone or anything He has called you to do.

Conclusion & Call to Action:

I challenge you to renew your commitment to developing the heart posture of hunger, faith, and perseverance.

1. How is your thought life?

2. Are you excited about your relationship with God? Do you look forward to spending time with him?

3. Are you maintaining your faith in God despite your circumstances?

4. Are you persevering or caving in under pressure?
